Corn Visy 287 SV is a simple modified mid-early hybrid with maturity group FAO 280, developed by the Ukrainian company MAIS. This hybrid is characterized by high cold resistance in early growth stages, allowing for successful early planting even under adverse weather conditions. Plants reach a height of up to 240 cm, and the grain is tooth-shaped, light-yellow, with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 280–340 g. The hybrid is primarily intended for silage use and features high yield — from 12 to 15 tons per hectare.
Visy 287 SV exhibits high drought and heat tolerance, scoring 8 out of 9 on the scale for these traits. In addition, the hybrid shows excellent tolerance to diseases such as common rust and gray leaf spot, as well as to the corn borer, ensuring stable yields. The grain dries quickly after maturity, and the hybrid’s Stay Green effect is moderate, which helps preserve leaf mass and improves photosynthesis during the ripening period. Seeds are treated with a fungicidal seed treatment to protect against diseases in early stages.
Recommendations for cultivation include optimal planting density of 55,000–65,000 plants per hectare and minimum soil temperature for planting of +10…+12 °C. The hybrid performs well in various regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions. Visy 287 SV is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve stable and high yields under variable climate conditions.
