Corn seeds NC 301 are a simple modified mid-early maturity group hybrid developed by breeders of the MAIS company. This hybrid has a vegetative period of 109–119 days and reaches plant height of up to 230 cm with ear attachment at approximately 130 cm. The ear has a cylindrical shape with 16–18 rows of yellow dent kernels. The 1000-kernel weight varies from 250 to 310 grams, and grain yield is 78–82%. The hybrid has high drought resistance and heat and lodging resistance during maturity, ensuring stable yields under various climatic conditions. NC 301 exhibits high resistance to diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew, as well as pests, including corn borer. The hybrid has no restrictions on the use of sulfonylurea herbicides, simplifying crop management. Grain yield potential reaches up to 135 ц/га in forest-steppe zone, 78–88 ц/га in steppe, and around 48 ц/га under stress conditions. Additionally, the hybrid is suitable for silage production with yields up to 720 ц/га in Polesie and up to 455 ц/га in forest-steppe. Grain drying rate is average, allowing optimal harvest planning. For sowing, the recommended minimum soil temperature is +10–12°C, and the optimal plant density at harvest depends on the region: 65–75 thousand plants/ha in Polesie and 30–35 thousand plants/ha in Southern Steppe. The sowing unit contains 80 thousand seeds, ensuring convenience and accuracy during planting. NC 301 is a universal hybrid designed for both grain and silage use, making it a profitable choice for various agricultural conditions.
