DN Corund — mid-early hybrid sweet corn with FAO 250, developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAN of Ukraine and registered in the Variety Register since 2015. This hybrid is distinguished by its high potential grain yield, reaching 10-12 tons per hectare, making it attractive for cultivation in various climatic zones, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia. The plant is tall, reaching 240-260 cm in height, with ear attachment at 90-110 cm. The cylindrical ear, 21-22 cm long, contains 16 rows of kernels, with 32 kernels per row, which are yellow-golden and tooth-shaped. The 1000-kernel weight is 300-310 g, and the grain yield reaches 82-83%.
The hybrid is characterized by intensive water loss and rapid drying, which contributes to its early maturity and allows efficient use of the harvest under various agronomic conditions. It exhibits high resistance to drought, heat, root and stem lodging, as well as diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, and Fusarium mold. Thanks to these qualities, DN Corund adapts well to adverse weather conditions and reduces the risk of crop loss.
The recommended seeding rate varies depending on the cultivation zone: for dry areas — 45-50 thousand seeds per hectare, for zones with adequate moisture — 70-75 thousand, and under irrigation — 75-80 thousand. Seeds undergo fungicide treatment and growth stimulant treatment, ensuring high germination and plant health. Seed batches are delivered in quantities of 80,000 units with accompanying documentation and shipped directly from the manufacturer. DN Corund is primarily intended for grain production and features rapid early development, making it a profitable choice for farmers aiming for high and stable yields.
