Cosmino — high-yielding mid-season hybrid of sweet corn with dual-purpose use, registered in the State Register for the Central Chernozem region. This three-line hybrid is characterized by high drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under challenging climatic conditions. The vegetation period is approximately 98 days, which corresponds to the average level for this region. Cosmino produces a high yield of dry matter with exceptional nutritional value, confirmed by an average yield of normalized dry matter at 195.3 centners per hectare and a maximum yield of 383 centners per hectare recorded in Lipetsk Oblast in 2018. The plant features a very high and robust structure with wide leaves, promoting efficient photosynthesis and growth. Resistance to lodging and stem breakage ensures crop preservation under adverse weather conditions. The ear is long, thick, slightly conical with a short stalk, well-formed, which facilitates harvesting and high yield. The grain is cream-colored with a toothed texture, with a yellow upper and orange lower part; the 1000-grain weight ranges from 280–320 grams, and the starch content in the grain reaches 73%, indicating high raw material quality. Cosmino demonstrates good disease resistance: in field conditions, the hybrid is lightly affected by common smut and bacterial wilt, moderately affected by stalk rot, and susceptible to stalk borer. Recommended planting rates are 80–100 thousand plants per hectare, optimal for achieving maximum productivity. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, the Cosmino hybrid is an effective solution for obtaining high yields of sweet corn with excellent agronomic and technological performance.
