Jodie corn is a medium-maturing, high-yielding dent-type hybrid intended for grain and silage production. Produced by Limagrain, one of the leading companies in seed material selection. The hybrid is characterized by high yields, averaging 120 to 140 c/ha, and is suitable for cultivation across all of Ukraine due to its adaptability and resistance to various environmental conditions. Plants reach a height of about 280 cm, have a strong root system and sturdy stalk, ensuring good drought tolerance and resistance to lodging in strong winds.
Jodie corn exhibits high water release speed and contains 14 to 16 rows per ear with 34 dent-type kernels per row. The 1000-kernel weight is approximately 310 g. The hybrid belongs to the medium-maturing group with FAO 380 and possesses high agronomic qualities, making it popular for producing high-quality silage with high dry matter and starch content, as well as improved fiber digestibility. Thanks to these properties, silage made from Jodie corn has high nutritional value, which is especially important for animal husbandry.
Special attention has been paid to the hybrid's resistance to diseases such as fusarium and bacterial blight, achieved through genetic selection. This enables stable and high-quality yields even under stress conditions. For successful cultivation, recommended planting rates are 70-75 thousand plants per hectare in well-watered zones and 60-65 thousand in less watered zones. Traditional soil preparation methods and agronomic crop protection techniques help maximize the hybrid's potential.
