Description HOPER 160 VS
HOPER 160 VS — this is an early-maturing simple hybrid of corn (Zea mays L.) intended for silage production. Plants of this hybrid have an average height of 140-150 cm, with narrow leaves of medium width. The ear is of medium length and thickness, weakly conical in shape, with a medium-length stalk and a moderate number of rows of kernels. The kernels are dent-shaped, yellow in the upper part. The 1000-kernel weight is 70-80 grams, and the oil content of the kernels reaches 48-52%. The hybrid is characterized by good yield: the average yield of normalized dry matter in the Volga-Vyatka region is approximately 60.5 centners per hectare, and according to farm experience, it may reach 18-22 centners per hectare. The corn is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis, lightly affected by powdery mildew and ear fusarium, and also exhibits increased resistance to bacterial disease. However, the plant may suffer severe damage from the corn borer. The seeds of the HOPER 160 VS hybrid are of high quality, meet state standards, and have the necessary certificates. They are suitable for cultivation in various regions of Russia and ensure a stable yield with proper agronomic practices. The hybrid was developed by the VNIIS of Irrigated Agriculture and entered the state register in 2011.
