Golden Ear 153 MV — an early-maturing three-line hybrid corn variety developed by Kazakh breeders at the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture. The maturity period is 87-92 days, allowing its use in various climatic conditions. Plants are medium-height, about 166 cm tall, with cylindrical ears ranging from 10 to 20 cm in length and weighing approximately 200 g. The kernels are orange-yellow, possessing good taste qualities in milk-wax maturity, making the hybrid suitable for fresh and canned use.
The hybrid exhibits high cold tolerance and resistance to drought and lodging, ensuring stable yields across different regions. It is also resistant to infection by common smut and powdery mildew. The 1000-kernel weight varies from 188.7 to 290 g depending on growing conditions. The kernel dry matter content is about 30.1%, kernel yield reaches 86.6%, and protein content is 8.3%. Average yield is 3.9 t/ha, with record yields reaching up to 15.5 t/ha.
Golden Ear 153 MV is recommended for cultivation in the northwestern, central, Volga-Vyatka, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, Ural, West Siberian, East Siberian regions, as well as in the Akmola region. Sowing is recommended in April-May to a depth of about 4 cm with row spacing of 70×50 cm. Harvesting is possible from June to September. Due to its high vitamin and macro- and microelement content, this hybrid is an excellent choice for fresh consumption and canning.
