Frivol (RPG 9610) — a mid-season corn hybrid from the Optimum® AQUAmax® line, characterized by a dent-type kernel. The plant is tall with strong ear attachment, ensuring resistance to stalk lodging. The hybrid shows good early growth and high grain quality with increased starch and protein content. The vegetation period is approximately 107-112 days, corresponding to the mid-season group according to FAO 340. Due to optimal ear attachment and wide leaves, the plant efficiently utilizes resources for harvest formation.
The hybrid exhibits high drought tolerance and excellent water use efficiency, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions, including the Polissia, Forest Steppe, Steppe, as well as mountainous regions of Crimea and Carpathians. It possesses good resistance to smut diseases (6 out of 9 on the resistance scale) and high tolerance to powdery mildew. High pollen viability at elevated temperatures contributes to stable pollination and harvest formation even under hot conditions.
The hybrid is intended for grain, starch, and alcohol production. It is recommended to avoid monoculture, dense planting, and late harvest. Not suitable for minimum tillage and late harvesting. Optimal plant density under sufficient moisture is 65-70 thousand per hectare, and under insufficient moisture — 60-65 thousand. Average yield in the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions reaches 55.7 c/ha, with maximum yields up to 140 c/ha.
