Euro 401 MV / Euro 401 SV

The hybrid corn Euro 401 MV is a medium-late simple hybrid with FAO 400, intended for grain use. Plants reach a height of about 240 cm, with ear attachment height of approximately 150 cm. The ear has a cylindrical shape with a medium-sized stalk diameter and a peduncle length of 5-10 cm, providing medium flexibility and ear attachment strength. The grain is dent-shaped, cherry-yellow, with 1000-grain weight ranging from 260-350 g and grain yield of 78-82%. The number of rows of kernels on the ear ranges from 16 to 20. The hybrid is characterized by weak anthocyanin stem coloring and weakly erect leaf orientation. It has high technological suitability for ear storage and high regenerative quality of green mass. Harvesting with simultaneous grain threshing is rated as medium, and adaptability to resource- and energy-saving technologies is at a medium level. The minimum soil temperature for sowing is 10-12 °C, allowing cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones with potential yields up to 15 t/ha at the recommended density of 70,000 plants per hectare. The hybrid Euro 401 MV is resistant to southern gnomosporiosis, moderately resistant to stalk rot, ear blight, and Fusarium ear rot, but susceptible to ear bacterial disease. Damage from stalk borer is minimal. The hybrid is produced on a Moldavian-type cytoplasmic sterility and is included in the State Register for the North Caucasus region. The breeder is the company Maïs, registered in 2003.
