Description Eurostar
Eurostar hybrid is a medium-early, high-yielding corn variety with a FAO index of 210, developed by breeders of the LIDEA (Euralis/Caussade) company. It is intended for cultivation as grain, including for processing into meal, as well as for silage. The vegetation period ranges from 100 to 110 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions, including the Central Chernozem, North Caucasus, Middle Volga, and Lower Volga regions. Plants reach an average height of about 280 cm, with ears positioned approximately 115 cm above the ground, facilitating harvesting and reducing lodging risk. Eurostar exhibits high plasticity and stable yield performance under different growing conditions. It demonstrates rapid growth during early developmental stages, aiding successful emergence. The hybrid has a strong stalk and well-developed root system with good branching, ensuring resistance to adverse factors. Ears are cylindrical with 16 rows of kernels and 26 kernels per row; the kernels are starchy, with a thousand-kernel weight of approximately 301 grams. Eurostar features high moisture shedding speed, simplifying harvest and reducing yield losses. The hybrid shows high resistance to major corn diseases, including fusarium, downy mildew, and southern helminthiosis. It is low-sensitive to weeds and pests, successfully resisting drought, late spring frosts, and intense sunlight. Recommended seeding rates vary depending on soil moisture: for well-watered zones — 75-95 thousand plants per hectare, for dry regions — 65-80 thousand. Eurostar requires approximately 1490 growing degree days for silage maturity and 1740 degree days at 35% moisture for grain maturity. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, the Eurostar hybrid is an optimal choice for farms in the northwestern part of Ukraine and other regions with similar climatic conditions.
