Field Performance of the "Elidium" Hybrid

Selecting the right seed variety is about balancing stable yields with ease of field management. The triple-cross hybrid "Elidium," developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAS, is a reliable choice for commercial grain production. With a maturity cycle of 120–140 days, this hybrid fits perfectly into intensive farming systems, providing a predictable harvest timeline.

Disease Resistance and Standability

The primary concern for any operator is crop loss due to pathogens. "Elidium" shows robust resistance against Fusarium, various rots, and onion smut. Its resilience against stalk rot is particularly notable; it ensures the crop remains upright, significantly simplifying the harvesting process. For combine operators, this means cleaner runs, less header clogging, and the ability to maintain optimal ground speed without worrying about broken stalks or harvesting losses.

Planting Density and Grain Quality

"Elidium" is highly adaptable to moisture levels. In high-potential fields or under irrigation, we recommend a planting density of 75,000–80,000 plants/ha to fully utilize the potential of its dent-type grain. In moisture-limited or less fertile areas, density should be adjusted to 55,000–60,000 plants/ha. The dent-type grain structure provides excellent dry-down properties, which directly impacts lower moisture content at harvest and reduces post-harvest drying energy costs.

Operational Efficiency

Working with "Elidium" is straightforward. The uniformity of the crop throughout the season simplifies the management of fertilizer applications and crop protection. Because the plants demonstrate strong natural resistance, the need for emergency spraying or extra machine passes is minimized, which is a significant factor in reducing fuel consumption and labor costs.
