Description Elmor
Elmor is a medium-early, high-yielding hybrid of sweet corn, developed for cultivation in the steppe and forest-steppe regions of Ukraine. It was created as a replacement for the popular hybrid Orzhitsa, but features improved characteristics such as high drought resistance, excellent water shedding, and resistance to temperature fluctuations. Plants reach a height of 230–240 cm, have cylindrical ears 20–24 cm long with 14–18 rows of kernels, ensuring a high grain yield of 75–85%. The vegetation period is 110–114 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions and provide a stable harvest.

Elmor exhibits high resistance to major corn diseases, including downy mildew and root rot, as well as lodging and stem breakage. The seeds undergo fungicide treatment, further enhancing their protection. The kernels of this hybrid have a yellow-orange color with a toothed structure and sometimes red stripes, containing a high protein content (8.5–9.5%) and starch content (72.6–72.8%), making it valuable for grain production. The 1000-kernel weight varies from 200 to 350 grams, and the harvest moisture content of the grain is approximately 16.5%.

The recommended planting density varies by region: 90,000 plants per hectare for the Polissia region, 75–80,000/ha for the forest-steppe, and 50–55,000/ha for the steppe. The hybrid responds well to intensification measures and can achieve a potential grain yield of 12–14 tons per hectare. Due to its elastic stem, succulent green leaves, and dense kernels, Elmor is a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality harvest under challenging climatic conditions.
