Description
DN Galatea — a mid-early hybrid of sweet corn that successfully competes with the best foreign hybrids. This hybrid belongs to the intensive type, ensuring accelerated early development and high adaptability to improved growing conditions. The plant reaches a height of 230-240 cm, does not bush, and forms a conical-cylindrical ear 35-38 cm long with 14-16 rows of kernels and 38-40 kernels per row. Kernels are dent-shaped, yellow, with a 1000-kernel weight of 280-300 g. The ear is attached at a height of 80-90 cm, facilitating harvesting and high productivity.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging, cold, drought, as well as to major diseases and pests, confirmed by ratings up to 9 points. Due to these qualities, DN Galatea adapts well to various soil-climatic conditions, including Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. The recommended plant density varies by region: 70-80 thousand/ha in Polissia, 60-70 thousand/ha in Forest-Steppe, and 50-60 thousand/ha in Steppe. When grown for silage, slight seedling densification is recommended.
DN Galatea demonstrates high yield potential — under optimal conditions and proper plant density, productive stalks can yield 14-16 tons of grain per hectare, and silage yield — 48-52 tons per hectare. The hybrid is characterized by very good water shedding during ripening, enabling effective moisture release and competition with the best imported hybrids. This makes DN Galatea an excellent choice for intensive cultivation technologies aimed at obtaining high-quality grain and silage.
