DN Akim

DN Akim — a medium-maturing hybrid of sugar corn of intensive type, intended for grain production. This hybrid is characterized by high yield and efficient water shedding, ensuring stable harvest even under drought conditions. The ear has a conical-cylindrical shape, 21-22 cm long, with 14 rows of kernels and a grain yield of about 82%. Plants reach a height of 205-215 cm, and the ear attachment height is 80-90 cm, which facilitates harvesting and reduces yield losses.

The hybrid has enhanced drought resistance and moderate cold tolerance, making it especially suitable for cultivation in steppe zones of Ukraine. It is resistant to lodging, common corn diseases including downy mildew, as well as pest damage. To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to maintain high agronomic standards and optimal plant population — 50-55 thousand per hectare in steppe zones.

DN Akim responds well to improved growing conditions, showing uniform seedling emergence and good kernel set at the ear tip. The hybrid is included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine and is recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones. Its adaptive traits and resistance to adverse factors make it a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality and high-yield sugar corn.
