Maize DN Akim

Stability in Changing Climatic Conditions

«DN Akim» is the choice for farmers who prioritize predictability in grain corn production. This simple hybrid from the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAS is adapted to Ukrainian soil and climatic conditions, demonstrating high resistance to common smut. Unlike many intensive hybrids that require perfect agronomic conditions, Akim forgives minor technological errors, remaining a reliable solution for farms with moderate levels of intensification.

Agrotechnological Highlights

• Vegetation period: 120–140 days. This belongs to the mid-late maturity group, which requires precise planning of sowing dates to ensure proper grain moisture loss before harvest.
• Planting density: the optimal range is 50,000–55,000 plants per hectare. Overcrowding is counterproductive; the hybrid values space for root system development and full ear filling.
• Phytosanitary profile: high resistance to common smut allows for a reduction in fungicide applications during the growing season.

Who should choose «DN Akim»?

This hybrid is highly effective for commercial sowings focused on grain yield. Its strength lies in its plasticity. In dry years, it does not burn out, and in favorable seasons, it responds well to nitrogen fertilizer application with a high-quality harvest. Akim does not compete for records with ultra-intensive foreign breeding programs, but its advantage is economic resilience. It is a practical tool for the farmer seeking a balance between seed costs and total grain yield.
