Maize AS 16240

AS 16240 is an early-maturing corn hybrid intended for grain production. It belongs to the dent-type grain category, treated with Scarlet and Semaphore compounds, providing additional protection. The vegetative period is approximately 110-116 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions. The plant is tall with medium-width leaves and distinctive anthocyanic coloring, indicating its biological traits and resilience.

The hybrid exhibits good resistance to stalk rot and gray leaf spot, and shows low susceptibility to bacterial blight and ear Fusarium. However, it is susceptible to damage by the corn borer, requiring attention during crop protection. Grain yield in the Central Chernozem region averages 77-78 c/ha, with maximum yields reaching 102-109 c/ha under optimal conditions. Grain moisture at harvest ranges from 5% to 27%, facilitating storage and processing.

AS 16240 is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Chernozem, Volga, and Lower Volga regions, with optimal planting density of 80-90 thousand plants per hectare under favorable conditions and 60-65 thousand under dry climates. Due to its characteristics and stable yield, this hybrid is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality grain with good regional adaptability.
