POVOLZHSKIY 23 SV — this is a complex four-line hybrid of corn (Zea mays L.), intended for grain-feed use. The variety is medium-early in maturity and characterized by its universal application. The plant is of medium height with a medium-length ear, the grain is intermediate type, closer to dent, ensuring good harvest quality. The average yield of normalized substance in the region is about 102 centners per hectare.

The hybrid exhibits moderate resistance to common smut and high resistance to ear blight, which contributes to the preservation of the harvest under adverse conditions. However, the variety is highly susceptible to ear and stalk borer, requiring appropriate agronomic measures to protect the plants. POVOLZHSKIY 23 SV is recommended for cultivation in the Lower Volga region, including Volgograd and Saratov regions, as well as the Republic of Kalmykia.

The variety was developed and approved for use in 1989 by specialists of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Irrigated Agriculture and the NP for Corn. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptation to regional conditions, this hybrid is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain a stable and high-quality grain-feed corn harvest.
