Maize Aelita

Growing Aelita: Practical Insights

For growers focusing on popcorn and culinary maize, the Aelita variety (breeder E. V. Kartamysheva) offers a balance of reliability and performance. With a maturity cycle of 90–100 days (FAO 90–1240), this variety is designed for efficient planning and harvest, performing consistently in moderate climate zones. It is a stable, reliable cultivar that minimizes the need for high-maintenance input.

Agrotechnical Recommendations

Efficiency in the field starts with density. We recommend maintaining 60–70 cm spacing between rows. This setup ensures proper air circulation and adequate nutrient uptake, which prevents lodging and simplifies crop management throughout the season. The Aelita variety is known for its resilience and predictable performance, reducing the need for costly troubleshooting or mid-season corrections.

Applications and Grain Quality

The yellow-orange grain of this variety is specifically bred for its popping characteristics. Whether you are using it for home-style popcorn production, canning, or serving fresh boiled corn, Aelita delivers consistent results. The kernels maintain their structure during high-temperature cooking, making them an excellent choice for food producers who prioritize texture and quality in their end products. It is a versatile addition to any operation focused on edible corn processing.
