CR 640 M

Corn CR 640 M is a hybrid developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Field Crop Science in Novi Sad, Serbia. This mid-early hybrid is primarily intended for silage use, but in southern regions it is successfully grown for grain. Plants reach a height of up to 350 cm with adequate moisture, which contributes to high yields — up to 130 centners of dry grain per hectare. The ears have a conical-cylindrical shape with 14–16 rows of yellow-orange kernels, ensuring good product quality.

Hybrid CR 640 M exhibits high resistance to major diseases such as smut (Ustilago maydis), helminthosporiosis (Helminthosporium spp) and fusarium (Fusarium spp). In addition, the plants are resistant to lodging and stalk borer damage, significantly reducing yield losses and facilitating harvest. The recommended planting density varies by region: in forest-steppe — 55–65 thousand plants per hectare, in central steppe — 45–50 thousand, and in southern and dry steppe — 40–45 thousand, which allows for optimal water use and increased productivity.
