Levoberezhnaya 3 is a variety of winter soft wheat created at the FSBSI «Yershovskaya OSOZ NIISS Kh South-East» and FSBSI «NIISS Kh South-East». It belongs to the erythrosporum variety and is characterized by a white pyramidal spike 6.0-7.5 cm long with fan-shaped white awns 4.0-5.0 cm long, located along the entire length of the spike. The grain is of medium size, oval in shape with a shallow crease and red coloration. The mass of 1000 grains is 36-47 g. The plant is semi-erect, short, 64-98 cm high, with medium intensity pubescence of the upper node and weak waxy coating on the flag leaf, which contributes to stability under unfavorable conditions. The glume is oval, 6-8 mm long, with a pronounced keel and medium pubescence.
The variety is semi-early and has increased winter hardiness at the level of the variety Mironoivskaya 808. It is distinguished by high drought tolerance and heat tolerance, which makes it especially valuable for cultivation in the arid Volga Region and steppe ecotype. Levoberezhnaya 3 demonstrates increased productive bushiness and resistance to lodging, comparable to the main adapted varieties Donskaya bezostaya and Mironoivskaya 808. The vegetative period is 269-317 days, ripening occurs 2-5 days earlier compared to varieties Mironoivskaya 808 and Levoberezhnaya 1.
The baking qualities of the variety are excellent, which increases its commercial value. The average yield in the region is about 25.4 c/ha, while in the Saratov region the variety showed an increase over the standard Mironoivskaya 808 by 1.7 c/ha, reaching a maximum yield of 59.8 c/ha. The variety is susceptible to brown rust, snow mold, root rots and hard head smut, however in field conditions septoria affects it weakly, below the level of the standard Mironoivskaya 808. Levoberezhnaya 3 is recommended for cultivation in the Lower Volga region, in particular in the Saratov region, and responds well to moderate irrigation, which contributes to stable high yields.
