Auntie Marico is a medium-early variety of coriander, characterized by a period from full germination to the beginning of green harvesting of 40-45 days. The plant reaches a height of 45-50 cm and is distinguished by good foliage coverage. The leaves are bright green, tender, and have a strong spicy aroma, which makes this variety particularly attractive for use in cooking.
The yield of greens of the Auntie Marico variety is 2.6-3.1 kg per square meter. The crop is heat-loving and light-loving; to obtain high-quality and juicy greens, it requires abundant watering. Sowing is recommended in late May in open ground at a depth of 1-2 cm, followed by thinning seedlings to a distance of 15-20 cm between plants. The variety is unpretentious in care, undemanding to soil and moisture, prefers sunny places, but can grow in semi-shade too. Care includes loosening, weeding, and timely watering.
The special value of the variety lies in its high content of essential oils, vitamins B1, B2, C, P, and mineral salts. Coriander Auntie Marico has antiseptic and cholagogue properties, promotes improved digestive system function and cleansing the body of toxins. It is recommended to use it as salad greens and a spicy seasoning: young leaves and stems are suitable for fresh dishes, dried leaves and mature seeds - for meat, fish, and vegetable dishes, especially in Georgian cuisine.
