Chicory Kethel

Dutch breeding for premium salad production

The Keitel leafy chicory variety by Rijk Zwaan represents the gold standard in professional vegetable cultivation, specifically tailored for the fresh produce market. In the contemporary agricultural landscape, selecting the right variety is about balancing high yields with production efficiency. Keitel has established itself as a reliable asset for growers aiming to produce uniform, high-quality, vibrant green leafy produce.

Agronomic profile and disease resistance

One of the hallmark features of this Dutch-bred variety is its robust genetic resistance to common pathogens that often threaten crop quality. Rijk Zwaan’s breeders have prioritized resistance to Downy Mildew and Lettuce Mosaic Virus. This inherent resistance allows agronomists to significantly reduce fungicide application during the growing season, facilitating production that meets the standards of modern sustainable farming.
