Chrysanthemum Rara

Premium Ukrainian breeding for your garden

The «Rara» chrysanthemum, developed by the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden, represents a perfect balance between robust hardiness and aesthetic appeal. This bush variety is specifically designed for gardeners seeking low-maintenance yet high-impact floral displays.

Practical application and management

• Landscape design. With a medium height of 30–60 cm, «Rara» is a versatile choice for borders and middle-row arrangements. Its intense red blooms provide a striking visual climax during the late autumn season when the rest of the garden begins to fade.
• Container gardening. Due to its compact bushy habit, this variety performs excellently in pots. It is an ideal solution for patios and terraces; however, given its size, ensure pots have ample drainage to prevent moisture buildup during colder months.
• Cut flower production. The large 10+ cm flowers make «Rara» a top candidate for floral arrangements. The stems are sturdy and the blooms maintain high turgor for an extended period after cutting.

Agronomic tips for success

Planting in autumn is recommended to allow the root system to establish before the onset of extreme winter temperatures. As a variety with high frost resistance, it is well-suited for temperate climates. To achieve the full potential of its large blooms, ensure the planting site is sunny and the soil is well-aerated. Avoid low-lying areas where water accumulates, as excessive moisture is the primary challenge for large-flowered chrysanthemums during the winter dormant phase.
