This variety was obtained by selection from seedlings of the 'Ideal' variety, pollinated freely and sent in one-year-old plants from the VNIIGiSPR. Originator — Sverdlovsk Selection Station for Gardening. Authors: N.I. Gvozdikova, S.V. Zhukov. Introduced into the State Register in 1959 for the Volga-Vyatka, Ural, and West Siberian regions.
Bush up to 2 m tall, broadly rounded shape, with upward-arching branches, medium density, medium foliage. Bud 4 mm, conical shape, slightly deviated from the branch. Leaf elongated-ovate, dark green, shiny. Apex acuminate, base cuneate, double-toothed. Leaf blade surface glossy, slightly curved. Stipules 2-4 at leaf base. Petiole 11.7 mm long, 1 mm thick, light green, slightly colored at the top. Number of flowers per inflorescence — 3-4. Corolla 20 mm in diameter, open. Petals white, loosely arranged. Stigma of the pistil usually at the level of the stamens, occasionally higher. Pistil length 8-10 mm, stamen length 6 mm. Calyx shape cup-like, strong toothed. Fruits borne on bouquet branches and one-year growth.
Fruits weighing 3-4 g, round, 17 mm high, 18 mm wide, 17 mm thick. Fruit pit small, apex rounded. Fruits dark red. Flesh dark red, medium density, red juice. Pedicel length 37 mm, thickness 0.8 mm. Pit oval, 0.27 g, 7.7% of fruit weight, brown. Apex rounded, base broadly rounded. Pit separates easily from flesh. Fruits have attractive appearance, rated 4.6 points, flesh juicy, tart-sweet, good flavor. Taste evaluation of fresh fruits 4.4 points. Fruit detachment from pedicel dry. Fruits resistant to cracking. Fruits contain soluble solids — 12.2%, sugars — 6.7%, acids — 1.5%, ascorbic acid — 13.2 mg/100g, vitamin P — 318.2 mg/100g. Used fresh and for processing — compote, jam, juice.
Flowering at medium time (May 20-30). Fruit ripening late, second half of August, uneven. Begins fruiting at 3-4 years. Annual yield, high. Longevity of rootstock plants great — over 30 years, with timely rejuvenating pruning. Self-fertile. Good winter hardiness of wood and buds. Flowers resistant to spring frosts. Drought tolerant. Moderate infection by coccomycosis and moniliosis. Resistant to pests. Occasionally damaged by cherry sawfly and cherry aphid.
