This variety was developed at the Far Eastern Experimental Station of VNIIR in 1986 from crossing the varieties 'Leto x' (seedling of 'Rozovaya' + 'Otbor'naya'). Authors: V.P. Tsarenko, N.A. Tsarenko. Introduced into the State Register in 1999.
Bush 1.8 m tall, broadly oval in shape, medium density. Multi-year branches are straight, gray-brown, with numerous light lenticels. One-year shoots are brown and hairy. Buds are small, pointed, form in groups of three, the outer ones are generative, the middle one vegetative, hairy, deviating from the shoot. Leaf blade is oval (4.5 x 2.6 cm), dark green, corrugated, with a pointed apex and sharp base. Leaf blade margin is doubly serrated, the abaxial surface is hairy with short hairs, the adaxial surface is woolly. Petiole is short, 0.4 cm long, with two acute, linear, hairy stipules. Flower (1-2) is saucer-shaped, medium size 2.5 cm in diameter of the corolla, five-petaled, petals white, freely arranged. Stamens 26, one pistil, hairy, ovary hairy. Stigma is positioned above the anthers. Calyx is elongated-oval, with strong anthocyanin, hairy on the outside, with five calyx lobes, finely toothed, hairy. Flowering and fruiting type is continuous along the branch: on one-year and multi-year wood (bouquet branches, fruiting twigs).
Fruit is large, average weight 3.5 g, maximum 4.0 g. Fruit shape is round, slightly flattened on sides, apex with noticeable beak, base with deep depression. Ventral suture in the form of a stripe. Fruit color is bright red, skin hairy. Flesh is red, firm. Juice color is red. Pedicel length 0.5 cm, hairy. Stone 0.20 g, light brown, oval, constitutes 0.4% of fruit weight, does not detach from flesh.
Fresh fruits contain dry matter — 12.6%, sugars — 7.4%, acids — 0.86%, ascorbic acid — 29.4 mg/100g. Fruit appearance is attractive and eye-catching. Flesh is juicy, firm, slightly cartilaginous. Flavor is tangy-sweet, harmonious. Sensory rating 3.9 points. Semi-dry fruit detachment. Transportability is weak. Not suitable for mechanized harvesting. Utilization is universal: fresh consumption and for preservation: juice, jam, jelly, marmalade, fruit paste, wine, etc.
Flowering period 17-23 May. Ripening period 15-24 July. Fruits ripen simultaneously. Grafted saplings enter fruiting in 2 years, rootstock plants in 3-4 years. Plant longevity 18 years. Variety is self-sterile.
High yield, 10.0 kg per bush. Bush, one-year and multi-year branches are resistant to winter frosts, flowers to spring frosts. Variety is drought-tolerant, does not tolerate waterlogging. Resistant to coccomycosis, relatively resistant to clasterosporiosis. Flowers and fruits are susceptible to moniliosis under waterlogging.
High production rating: winter hardiness, early fruiting, high yield, large fruit size, semi-dry fruit detachment, longevity. Easily propagated by green cuttings. Suitable for intensive orchards with nearby processing facilities; for nurseries and hobby gardening.
Advantages: large fruit size, good taste qualities, high yield, semi-dry fruit detachment, high winter hardiness.
Disadvantages: fruit size reduction under heavy yield, susceptibility to moniliosis.
