Oregano garden «Gribovskiy 23» is an annual herbaceous plant 32–40 cm high, which is distinguished by a compact pyramidal shape and a dense medium-density leaf rosette. The leaves are large, lanceolate, dark green with a bluish tint, possess a pleasant persistent aroma reminiscent of black pepper. The plant tolerates short-term cooling well and is heat-resistant, which makes it convenient for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
The «Gribovskiy 23» variety was developed at the All-Russian Research Institute for Breeding and Seed Production of Vegetable Crops and was approved for use throughout the territory of Russia since 1995. The period from full emergence to technical maturity is 48–57 days, and the yield is about 1.5 kg/m². Leaves can be harvested already at a height of 12–15 cm for culinary use as fresh aromatic greens or in a dried form. In the food and canning industries, oregano is used as a flavoring agent, as well as in pharmacology thanks to its healing properties.
Oregano «Gribovskiy 23» goes well with other herbaceous plants with an aromatic spice – basil, fennel, thyme, marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary and thyme. The plant prefers open light places, requires sufficient lighting and does not tolerate frost. It can be grown on beds where tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, cucumbers and legumes were previously cultivated, and can be used as a seasoning both fresh and in a dried form.
