CHARLY

Oregano "Garden Charly" is an aromatic annual plant growing 30–50 cm tall with small light‑purple flowers gathered in loose inflorescences. The leaves have a lanceolate shape and a grey‑green tint, dotted with tiny glands, giving the plant a characteristic aroma.

The plant is distinguished by its love of light, cold hardiness, and unpretentiousness to growing conditions. It grows excellently both in open ground and in pots on a balcony; seeds can be sown in May, and seedlings in April, transplanting the plants into the ground at a distance of 15–20 cm.

The aerial part – leaves and stems – is used as a seasoning for fish and meat dishes, salads, and legumes. In fresh form, they give dishes a bright aroma, while in dried form – they retain their taste without bitterness. Besides culinary use, oregano is used in folk medicine as a medicinal plant for treating throat diseases and as a disinfectant.
