Chabris "BRIZ" is an annual aromatic plant growing 30 to 60 cm high with a branched bush and narrow, dark green leaves. Its small flowers are white or pink, while the aroma develops early in the growth stage and intensifies after drying.
In cooking, chabris is valued for its distinct spicy flavor, resembling a combination of pepper and mint. Leaves and stems can be used as fresh herbs or dried seasoning for marinades, pickles, meat and fish dishes. Due to its content of carotene, vitamin C, and mineral salts, it is also popular as a useful additive to various dishes.
Besides gastronomic properties, chabris contains tannins and resins that make it suitable for cosmetology and folk medicine. Essential oil with a balsamic-spicy aroma is obtained from it, used as a remedy for tremor of hands, strengthening hair, and having anti-inflammatory action.
Growing chabris is simple: seeds are sown in open ground in early spring or under winter (end of November), while the sowing is protected with boards. The plant prefers sunny, fertile soil and tolerates temperature fluctuations well. For storage, stems are dried in a ventilated room, and the plant can be grown both in open ground and in pots on a balcony.
