Sienna Celery is an early hybrid of celery, developed by the Dutch company Enza Zaden. The plant features a compact form with upright dark green leaves and smooth, fleshy, elongated stalks. The plant height reaches 35-42 cm, and stalk mass can reach up to 650 g. The leaves have a slightly waxy, glossy surface, while the stalks possess a juicy, aromatic flavor, making this variety popular for fresh consumption, drying, and home processing. The variety is characterized by high resistance to bolting and leaf edge burn, ensuring an attractive market appearance and good product transportability. Sienna celery is recommended to be grown from seedlings, which allows for an earlier harvest. Seeds are sown early in spring, typically at the beginning of March, into prepared containers with moist substrate, and then covered with plastic or glass to create a greenhouse effect. Germination takes about three weeks with regular ventilation, light misting, and maintaining warm temperatures. Seedlings are transplanted into open ground after stable warm weather, usually in May, following a planting scheme of 25x25 cm or 40x30 cm. After planting, mulching the soil with wood chips or straw and the first feeding with liquid fertilizer are recommended to strengthen the plants. Regular watering is essential for successful Sienna celery cultivation, with frequency depending on weather conditions and soil quality. Soil aeration to prevent crust formation, weed removal, and pest control are also important. The yield of stalks is 3.5-4 kg per square meter, and with leaves — 5-7 kg per square meter. Due to its qualities and resistance, the variety is suitable for fresh markets as well as processing, ensuring a stable and high-quality harvest.
