Celery CRUNCH

Growing Experience: 'Khrust' Celery

When you start growing stalk celery, the main fear is getting tough, fibrous stalks that ruin the culinary experience. In this regard, 'Khrust' from Sedek is a tried-and-tested tool in the garden. Breeders (Dubinin S.V., Dubinina I.N., Lukyanenko A.N.) focused on a mid-early maturity: 70-80 days from transplanting is sufficient to get a high-quality, marketable harvest.

Planting and Care Insights

For those planning to grow this on their plot: the variety requires proper technique. Without proper hilling, the stalks won't develop that signature tender texture and light color. Always use seedlings — it is critical for uniform crop development. With consistent watering, 'Khrust' produces a robust rosette that resists lodging. The plant is low-maintenance, but you must prevent soil dehydration, otherwise, the stalks can become bitter and lose their juiciness.

• Timing: The maturity period falls exactly within the stated range, making garden planning much easier.
• Texture: With correct blanching, the stalks remain firm yet crunchy, without an excess of tough fibers.
• Yield: Consistently high when soil nutrient levels are maintained.

We recommend this variety to those looking for a balance between authentic celery flavor and culinary convenience. This is not an experimental hybrid, but a reliable cultivar for anyone who values predictable results in the kitchen.
