Octavo

Octavo F1 carrot is a late-maturing Nantes-type hybrid with a vegetative period of 120-130 days, developed by breeders from the companies Vilmorin and Hazera. This variety is characterized by high adaptability to various climatic conditions, allowing it to be successfully grown throughout Ukraine. The plant features a strong, upright, green leaf canopy that protects against frost and promotes active crop development on light, well-drained soils with moderate moisture.

The carrots of the Octavo variety have a cylindrical shape with a blunt tip, measuring 17 to 22 cm in length and weighing 100 to 200 grams. They are distinguished by their high smoothness, uniform shape and size, as well as an attractive orange color, significantly enhancing their market appeal. The sugar content in the roots reaches 7%, and carotene content up to 14 mg per 100 grams, ensuring excellent taste qualities. Due to resistance to cracking and greying after washing, the roots retain their properties during transport and long-term storage.

The Octavo F1 hybrid is suitable for mechanical harvesting, optimizing the harvest process on large areas and reducing labor costs. With proper care, yields can reach 40-60 tons per hectare, and 4-6 kg of marketable roots per square meter. Carrots are suitable for fresh market sales, long-term storage, and use in culinary applications, baby food preparation, juices, salads, and winter vegetable mixes. Additionally, the variety exhibits good resistance to diseases such as leaf alternaria, powdery mildew, and root rot.
