Eggplant STEPANYCH

Technical profile of the "Stepanych" hybrid

Developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing, the "Stepanych" eggplant is engineered for stability in temperate climatic zones. This medium-ripening hybrid is specifically optimized for open-field cultivation. The primary design focus of this cultivar is its strong genetic resistance to Fusarium wilt, which serves as a critical defense mechanism against soil-borne pathogens, ensuring yield security.

Fruit Morphology and Commercial Specifications

• Form: Classic cylindrical shape, facilitating standardized logistics and packaging efficiency.
• Dimensions: The fruit length ranges from 26 to 40 cm, placing it in the high-yield product category.
• Weight: The fruit maintains an optimal weight of 200–300 grams, meeting standard market requirements for fresh produce.
• Color: Deep dark purple, maintaining aesthetic appeal during handling and transport.

Agrotechnical Performance

The seedling cycle spans 50-60 days before field transplanting. The integration of Fusarium resistance into the genotype allows for a reduction in fungicide applications, supporting sustainable field management. By choosing this hybrid, producers gain a resilient crop capable of maintaining structural integrity and fruit mass in open environments. The dense flesh structure of the fruit, combined with its elongated geometry, provides excellent resistance to mechanical impact during harvest, resulting in lower post-harvest losses.
