Carlena carrot is a late-maturing or mid-season variety with a long growing period, ranging from 120 to 130 days. The roots are conical or cylindrical in shape with a blunt tip, measuring 17 to 20 cm in length. Their weight varies from 62 to 180 grams depending on growing conditions. The surface of the fruits is smooth and even, while the flesh is bright orange, juicy, sweet, and crunchy, making this variety especially appealing for fresh consumption.
The variety is characterized by high yield and uniformity of roots, as well as good commercial qualities. Due to its high carotene content, the carrots take on a rich red-orange color. 'Carlena' is well-suited for processing and long-term storage, expanding its use in food industry and household applications.
For successful cultivation, it is recommended to plant carrots at a depth of about 1 cm in fertile, loose sandy-loam or light clay soils. Optimal preceding crops include cabbage, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and early potatoes. Technical maturity of the fruits occurs approximately 150 days after planting, allowing for planning harvest and further storage.
