Madlen

Madlen F1 cabbage is a vigorous hybrid of savoy cabbage with medium-late maturity, having a vegetative period of 90–105 days from transplanting. The plant forms compact heads weighing from 1.3 to 2.8 kg depending on planting density (3.5–4.5 plants per m²). Leaves are deep green with clearly defined corrugated and blistered texture; inner leaves are typical savoy type with slight yellowish tinge and waxy coating, giving them an attractive appearance.

The hybrid shows high resistance to heat stress and fungal diseases, including complete resistance to fusarium. After full maturity, heads can remain in the field for about a month, which enhances the compactness of the inner core, although it reduces leaf blistering. For long-term storage, cabbage is harvested at partial maturity with 2–3 outer leaves, ensuring the crop remains viable for 3–4 months if stored in a dry and cool place.

A distinctive feature of the hybrid is that seeds are treated with thiram, making them unsuitable for human consumption. Madlen F1 is suitable for cultivation under high-temperature conditions and ensures a stable yield of high-quality savoy cabbage with good market characteristics and long storage life.
