Description Madonna
The Kohlrabi 'Madonna' variety is a high-yielding mid-season variety with a growth period from sowing to harvest of 110-130 days. It features a semi-vertical leaf rosette and a medium-sized stem tuber in a wide-elliptical shape with a light purple skin. The flesh is white, tender, juicy, sweet, and crisp, without bitterness, ensuring excellent taste qualities. Fruit weight ranges from 500 to 700 grams, sometimes reaching 1.3 kg. Yield is approximately 4 kg per square meter.

'Madonna' Kohlrabi can be grown using either a seedling method or a direct sowing method. For the seedling method, seeds are sown at the end of March, and seedlings are transplanted into open ground at an age of 35-40 days, typically in late April to early May, with a spacing of 25-30 cm between plants. For the direct sowing method, seeds are sown at the beginning of May at a depth of 2 cm, and after the first true leaf appears, plants are thinned, leaving a spacing of 10-15 cm. Plant care includes soil loosening, watering, and fertilization.

Harvest is collected when the stem tuber reaches a diameter of 7-10 cm. To obtain two crops from one root, the stem tuber is cut off, leaving the root with the lower part of the stem. 'Madonna' Kohlrabi is widely used both fresh and for processing, thanks to its high nutrient content and superior taste qualities.
