Cabbage Ingrid

Ingrid Leaf Cabbage: A Market-Oriented Choice

For growers focusing on the fresh produce segment, selecting the right variety of leaf cabbage is a critical decision that influences profitability. The 'Ingrid' variety, developed by SDK-SIDS, offers a consistent solution for farmers looking to supply high-quality greens to retail markets and the HoReCa sector.

Practical Implementation and Cultivation

The 'Ingrid' variety is engineered for those who manage intensive crop cycles. Unlike head-forming cabbage, this variety focuses its energy on developing a lush, attractive leaf rosette, making it a staple for salad production. Key considerations for farm management include:

• Fresh Market Appeal: The leaves are prized for their texture and shelf-life, which are essential for meeting the strict requirements of modern supply chains.
• Growth Management: To maximize yield, the crop requires optimized nitrogen intake during the early vegetative phase. Proper moisture management is also key to ensuring the leaves remain tender, which directly affects marketability.
• Operational Efficiency: Due to its predictable development, 'Ingrid' is ideal for growers using staggered planting schedules to maintain continuous supply throughout the season.

The SDK-SIDS Advantage

The breeding work conducted by originators such as S. V. Dubinin and A. S. Zharova aimed to create a variety that balances yield stability with environmental resilience. By choosing seed material from SDK-SIDS, producers are investing in a product backed by proven selection standards. This variety is designed for growers who prioritize consistency in quality and want to minimize risks associated with variable climatic conditions, ensuring a reliable output for their buyers.
