The VOLGA-MATUSHKA bean variety is an early-maturing and high-yield vegetable variety that reaches technical maturity 45-50 days after germination. The plant is tall, climbing, reaching heights of 1.9 to 2.5 meters, with medium-sized green leaves and small white flowers. For successful bean cultivation, support structures are required as the plant needs assistance.
The pods of this variety at technical maturity are green in color, straight or slightly curved, measuring 10-11 cm in length and 1.1-1.3 cm in width. In cross-section, the pods have an elliptical or oval shape, lacking a parchment layer and fibers, which enhances their taste. The beak on the pods is short and slightly curved. The bean seeds are elliptical, white with slight veining and small in size.
The VOLGA-MATUSHKA variety is recommended for culinary use, as well as for canning and freezing due to its excellent taste qualities. Beans are sown directly into the ground in May-June at a depth of 2-3 cm with row spacing of 15x20 cm. The yield is approximately 3.2 kg per square meter, while the weight of 100 pods reaches 550 grams, making this variety attractive for gardeners and farmers.
