Ryabushka beans — a mid-season climbing plant reaching heights up to 3 meters and requiring support, such as a stretched net or stakes. The pods are fleshy, yellow-green in color, and up to 13 cm long; they can be used as vegetable beans when unripe, in the milk stage. Each pod contains 8 to 10 seeds, which have a characteristic kidney shape and a variegated color with burgundy spots on a cream background. The beans have high taste qualities, making them versatile for culinary use — from preparing soups and side dishes to stuffing for pies.
The variety is characterized by high yields — up to 3-4 kg per square meter, considering the harvest of unripe pods. The vegetation period is 100-120 days from sowing to harvest, which is usually carried out in August-September depending on the planting date. Ryabushka beans are well-suited for growing in open ground on sunny areas with light loamy soil. Sowing seeds is recommended in April-May at a depth of 3-4 cm, with inter-row spacing of 40-50 cm and distance between plants in a row of 10-12 cm.
For successful cultivation, the plant requires regular watering, weeding, loosening, and fertilizing. The variety is resistant to diseases and infestation by grain weevils, which facilitates care and improves crop quality. Beans contain B, C, A, E, and PP group vitamins, as well as microelements, plant proteins, and fiber, making them a useful component of a healthy diet. Thanks to their characteristics, Ryabushka beans are suitable both for home growing and for mechanized harvesting.
