Stryapukha bean is an annual bush plant of the legume family, distinguished by its mid-early maturity and compact bush size of 30-40 cm. This asparagus bean variety features long (13-15 cm), narrow, light-green or dark-green pods with a pointed tip, which lack a parchment layer, making them particularly convenient for culinary use. The yield reaches approximately 2.5 kg per square meter, making it attractive for cultivation both in open ground and on urban balconies.
Sowing of Stryapukha bean is recommended at the end of May – beginning of June, to a depth of 3-4 cm, with an interval of about 15 cm between seeds. For successful germination, the optimal temperature is +22–+25 °C. The plant prefers sunny areas with fertile soil, such as chernozem, podzolic soils, or loam. The period from germination to the beginning of maturity is about 30-40 days, which allows for harvest in a relatively short time.
Stryapukha bean is widely used in cooking due to its superior taste qualities. Young pods with seeds are suitable for preparing side dishes, vegetable stews, soups, and are also excellent for freezing and canning. Additionally, the compact size of the plant and its decorative appearance make this variety a popular choice for growing on balconies and in limited spaces, where it can harmoniously combine with flowering plants.
