SI BEMOL is a mid-early variety of asparagus bean with a period from germination to fruiting of 50-53 days. The plant is bush-type, 35-50 cm tall, with large green or light-green leaves and small flowers that can be white or purple. Pods of this variety differ by light-green or light-purple color at technical maturity, have a length from 9 to 16 cm and width up to 2 cm. They are curved, without parchment layer and fibers, which makes them especially convenient for culinary use. Seeds are of elliptical shape, red color with weak venation.
The variety is characterized by high marketable yield — up to 15-16.5 tons per hectare or up to 5 kg per square meter with proper care. Beans mature synchronously, which facilitates harvest collection. The height of attachment of lower pods varies from 10 to 18 cm, which contributes to ease of collection. The plant is resistant to diseases such as anthracnose and root rot, which increases the reliability of cultivation and reduces crop losses.
SI BEMOL is recommended for growing in open ground with sowing at the end of May – beginning of June at a depth of about 3 cm and a planting scheme of 10x50 cm. This bean variety is widely used in cooking, suitable for preparing fresh dishes and freezing. Thanks to hardiness and good taste, SI BEMOL beans are a popular choice among gardeners and farmers, especially in regions with a warm climate.
