Barley Zoryanii

High-Performance Yield in a Short Cycle

The 'Zoryanyi' barley variety is a go-to solution for farmers operating in regions prone to summer droughts. Developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (National Center of Seed Science and Variety Testing), this spring barley variety focuses on ultra-early maturity. With a vegetation period of just 80–85 days, it successfully matures before the heat spikes of July, ensuring a predictable yield where longer-cycle varieties might suffer from heat stress.

Agronomic Potential and Grain Quality

The main advantage of 'Zoryanyi' is its blend of high productivity and robust resistance to common pathogens. Unlike many competing varieties, it shows complex immunity against Helminthosporium leaf spot, loose smut, powdery mildew, and dwarf rust. This allows for a significant reduction in pesticide application and overall fungicide costs.

• Biological Profile: Two-rowed ear with large kernels. The 1000-kernel weight ranges from 45–49 grams, ensuring high grain density and quality.
• Versatility: With a crude protein content of 12–14%, the grain is highly suitable for both high-value animal feed and the malting industry, depending on specific cultivation practices.
• Harvest Efficiency: The 70–80 cm plant height provides excellent resistance to lodging, which is crucial for seamless mechanized harvesting.

'Zoryanyi' is optimal for farming enterprises looking to diversify their crop rotation while mitigating climate risks. Its core strength is its reliable performance in dry conditions. Its only limitation is the requirement for timely planting: due to its early maturity, maximizing spring moisture uptake is critical to unlocking its full yield potential.
