Barley Cadix

French breeding for stable yields

The «Kadix» barley variety, developed by the French breeding company Secobra Recherches S.A.S, represents the efficiency of European agricultural technology. This variety is designed for intensive farming conditions, combining compact plant morphology with reliable performance.

Agronomic profile

«Kadix» plants grow to a height of 70–80 cm. This moderate height is a crucial factor for lodging resistance, which is vital in regions with unpredictable weather or when utilizing high-input fertilization. With a vegetative period of 90–100 days, «Kadix» is classified as an early-maturing variety, enabling farmers to harvest before the onset of peak summer heat stress.

Phytosanitary resilience

A key focus for Secobra Recherches S.A.S in this variety is genetic resistance to leaf diseases. In an era of climate instability, «Kadix» provides significant tolerance to key pathogens, allowing for optimized fungicide usage and reduced pesticide dependency:

• Helminthosporium blight;
• Net blotch;
• Rhynchosporium (leaf scald);
• Powdery mildew.

By minimizing the impact of these diseases, «Kadix» helps agronomists reduce input costs while maintaining yield potential. This variety is a practical solution for producers aiming for a balance between stable output and reduced operational risks.
