Yucatan

The Yucatan barley variety is recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone and has a vegetation period of 87 to 94 days. Plants reach a height of 75–92 cm and have a two-row cylindrical straw-yellow spike. The grain is elongated-elliptical, light-yellow, and finely wrinkled. Yucatan belongs to the universal barley type, distinguished by high resistance to lodging, shattering, and diseases such as false powdery mildew, leaf spot, and helminthosporiosis. For sowing, the recommended rate is 4.0–4.5 million germinating seeds per hectare, with a planting depth of 4–5 cm and mandatory heavy roller compaction. The optimal sowing time is at soil physical maturity, with mandatory seed treatment for disease protection.
