Sazonivskyi

Sazonivskyi — this is a medium-maturing barley variety developed by the Steppe Agricultural Institute of NAAN. The vegetation period is approximately 75 days, allowing its effective use in various climatic zones, including steppes, forest-steppe, and polonies. Plants reach a height of 65 to 87 cm, have a two-row ear 6–9 cm long with medium density. Grain is medium-sized, yellow with a slight groove, thousand-grain weight varies from 52 to 60 g. The variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 6.5–8.2 t/ha, making it economically viable for cultivation. Sazonivskyi barley is drought-tolerant, which is especially important for regions with insufficient moisture. Additionally, it has good resistance to lodging and stem breakage, as well as moderate resistance to various plant diseases, which reduces yield losses and improves grain quality. For sowing, the recommended rate is 4.0–4.5 million viable seeds per hectare. Agronomic practices for cultivation are standard for the regions where the variety is grown. Sazonivskyi barley is well-suited for field conditions in steppes, forest-steppe, and polonies, successfully used in grain production and provides high yields of conditioned seed. The variety has been included in the Register of Plant Varieties since 2008 and has proven itself as a reliable and productive choice for farmers.
