Alegro

The Alegro barley variety belongs to the intensive type and is designed for high yields with minimal seed material. Yield of this variety ranges from 40-45 centners per hectare to maximum levels of 90-95 centners per hectare. Plants have stem height of about 72 cm, medium-sized two-row ears with strong waxy coating, and 1000-grain weight of 46 g. Recommended seeding rate — 180-200 kg per hectare. Alegro exhibits high drought, lodging, and shattering resistance, as well as resistance to major barley diseases such as powdery mildew, net blotch, dark brown and net-forming helminthosporium. Studies conducted at the V. Ya. Yuryev Institute of Plant Growing, NAAN, confirmed the high yield of the Alegro variety, reaching 4.64 t/ha in favorable years, which significantly exceeds the national standard. The variety demonstrates good 1000-grain weight (53.3 g) and high starch content (approximately 57.3%). The vegetation period varies depending on weather conditions, shortening in dry years and lengthening in favorable ones. Alegro's lodging resistance is at a high level, which helps maintain yield even under adverse weather conditions. The Alegro variety is recommended for cultivation in various climatic zones, including zones with sufficient, moderate, and insufficient moisture. Due to its drought resistance and disease resistance, it ensures stable yield formation and high grain quality. These characteristics make Alegro a promising material for selection and use in feed production, providing a reliable basis for effective agriculture.
