Hadar

The barley variety Hadar is a bright variety of barley with a two-row ear type and a vegetation period of 79 to 93 days. Plants reach a height of 77 to 92 cm, have a semi-erect bush, and intermediate leaf type without glumes on lower leaf sheaths. The ear is cylindrical, medium length (7–11 cm), loose, with elastic and serrated awns, which are longer than the ear and have moderate anthocyanic pigmentation at the tips. The grain is thin-skinned, elongated-elliptical, white-yellow with fine wrinkles, with a long-hairy main awn. The thousand-grain weight ranges from 48.0 to 52.2 g, and protein content varies from 11.2 to 12.5%. The potential yield of the Hadar variety reaches 8.12 t/ha, making it promising for cultivation in the steppe zone. The variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging, shattering, as well as diseases such as false powdery mildew, leaf spot, and helminthosporiosis, rated at 7–8 points. The recommended seeding rate is 4.0–4.5 million germinating seeds per hectare, with a sowing depth of 4–5 cm and mandatory rolling with heavy rollers to improve seed-soil contact. To achieve maximum productivity of the Hadar variety, it is necessary to use conditioned seeds and follow biologically based cultivation technologies. Key elements include proper soil preparation, correct seeding rate, and balanced fertilization. The variety belongs to the medium-maturing group and requires careful care to achieve high yields and stable grain quality.
