GRANIK is a medium-early spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) variety intended for grain and fodder use. It is recommended for cultivation in the Steppe and Semi-desert zones of the Volgograd region, as well as in the Northern and Western zones of the Saratov region. The variety is characterized by lodging and drought resistance at the level of standard varieties, with a 1000-grain mass of 40 to 48 grams and an average yield of about 22.6 centners per hectare. Protein content in the grain reaches 15.5%, making it valuable for feed purposes. GRANIK is moderately resistant to dark brown spot but susceptible to powdery mildew. Additionally, under the name GRANIK, a systemic post-emergence herbicide based on the active substance tribenuron-methyl at a concentration of 750 g/kg is released. It is presented in the form of water-soluble granules and is intended for effective control of a wide range of broadleaf weeds in grain cereal crops, including barley. The herbicide is absorbed by the leaves, stems, and roots of plants, blocking the enzyme acetolactate synthase, which leads to the cessation of weed growth. The application rate of the preparation ranges from 15 to 25 grams per hectare, and the processing period is from the 2-3 leaf stage to the appearance of the flag leaf. The preparation is effective at temperatures from +5 °C and degrades quickly in the soil, creating no limitations for subsequent crops. GRANIK herbicide differs in its wide spectrum of action, including the control of weeds resistant to 2,4-D, and can be used not only on barley, but also on winter and spring wheat, as well as on tribenuron-methyl resistant sunflower. Thanks to its properties, it ensures reliable protection of crops from weeds, contributing to increased yield and grain quality.
