Description

ORENBURGSKY 11 is a mid-early spring barley variety intended for grain and fodder use. The vegetative period ranges from 69 to 85 days, allowing it to mature 1-2 days later than the variety Natali and 3-5 days earlier than the variety Chelyabinsk 99. Plants are semi-erect, medium-height, with strong anthocyanin pigmentation on the earlets of the flag leaf and a waxy coating on the sheaths of lower leaves. The ear is pyramidal and loose, with long barbed awns and strong anthocyanin pigmentation on the nerves of the outer glume. The grain varies from large to very large, with a 1000-seed mass of 40-53 grams, and protein content in the grain ranges from 13.3-16.0%. The variety is characterized by lodging resistance and moderate resistance to major diseases such as loose smut and stem rust, while being moderately susceptible to covered smut. Drought resistance is at the level or slightly above standard varieties Natali and Preriy, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in the Western and Eastern Steppe zones of the Orenburg region. The average yield of the variety in the region is approximately 21 centners per hectare, with maximum indicators up to 55.1 centners per hectare, confirming its high productivity and adaptability. ORENBURGSKY 11 was bred as a result of individual selection from a hybrid population involving several varieties, including Orenburgskiy 15, L-217, and Donetsk 8. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Urals region and has successfully passed state testing. Its characteristics and stress resistance make it promising for agricultural production, providing a stable and high-quality barley harvest.
