Description
Orenburgskij Sovmesnoj is a medium-maturing spring barley variety intended for grain and fodder use. The vegetative period ranges from 69 to 85 days, allowing it to mature 1-2 days later than the Natali variety and 3-5 days earlier than the Chelyabinsk 99 variety. The plant is of medium height, with a semi-erect stem and resistance to lodging. The ear is pyramidal, loose, with long awns and strong anthocyanin pigmentation on the flag leaf ears. The grain is large and very large, with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 40 to 53 grams, ensuring high crop quality. The variety is characterized by a strong waxy bloom on the sheaths of lower leaves and the ear, which contributes to its resistance to adverse conditions.
The variety is distinguished by high drought tolerance, which is at the level or above standard varieties Natali and Preria, making it particularly valuable for cultivation in the Western and Eastern steppe zones of the Orenburg region. It is moderately resistant to powdery and stem rust, while moderately susceptible to loose smut. Protein content in the grain varies from 13.3% to 16.0%, ensuring good quality of feed raw materials.
Orenburgskij Sovmesnoj was created as a result of joint breeding research conducted by the Orenburg State Agrarian University and the Orenburg Research Institute of Agriculture. The variety demonstrates high yield and adaptability to various growing conditions, as well as average ecological stability and responsiveness to improved agronomy. Average yield in recommended zones is about 21.0 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 55.1 c/ha, confirming its economic prospectiveness and efficiency in agricultural production.
