Viraž

Barley variety «Viraž» is a medium-maturing spring type, developed by Kazakh breeders of the Karabalyk Agricultural Experimental Station. The vegetation period is 67–70 days, and the period from emergence to heading is 52–55 days. This variety is recommended for inclusion in the Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine, confirming its adaptability to local growing conditions.

The «Viraž» variety is characterized by high yield, reaching 8.09 t/ha (or 48.5 c/ha) in 2015. It exhibits good resistance to lodging (7–8 points) and shattering (9 points), which helps maintain yield under adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the variety shows resistance to major barley diseases: powdery mildew and leaf spot (6–7 points), as well as dwarf rust (7–8 points).

The protein content of the grain of the «Viraž» variety ranges from 10.9–11.2%, making it suitable for various uses. Due to its combination of high productivity, disease resistance, and adaptability to climatic conditions, this variety is a profitable choice for agricultural producers seeking a stable and high-quality barley harvest.
