The STRANNIK spring barley variety is a mid-to-early maturity grain-forage barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the North Caucasian, Middle Volga, and Ural regions. The plant is characterized by medium or high height, semi-erect stems with resistance to lodging, ensuring stable yields even under unfavorable weather conditions. The variety possesses moderate drought tolerance, making it suitable for regions with limited moisture. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 37 to 52 grams, while protein content reaches 11.5-15.0%, indicating high-quality raw material for fodder purposes. The variety belongs to the nutans group and is characterized by short or medium plant growth. The STRANNIK variety has quite high yields: in the Middle Volga region, it is about 32.8 centners per hectare, in the Ural region — 15.8 centners, while maximum figures reach 60.4 centners per hectare, recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan. STRANNIK is also distinguished by its disease resistance, in particular, it is weakly susceptible to loose smut, which reduces yield losses and improves its quality. Thanks to its characteristics, this barley variety is widely used in feed production, providing high-nutritive grain for animals. Its adaptability to various climatic conditions and stress resistance make it a profitable choice for agrarians seeking a stable and quality harvest.
